:ast year we were called out to over 60 deer emergencies, either Rta, fencing, dog attack and orphans. This year has started off very busy with 10 calls already and it is only mid February. Last week we were called to a 4 year old stag who had got himself tied up in a tennis net. Must have been there for a while as he was well and truly tangled. It took us about an hour to cut him free, by which time we were all exhausted including the stag. But after letting him lie for a while we managed to get him to his feet and he trotted off down the lane and into a field quite happily it was a brilliant result. the next one was a poor little girl who had been found in a swollen lake, how she got there we are not sure, but had obviously been there for a time, probably over night. She was hypothermic, very thin, and almost no responsive. We rushed her back to the centre, warmed her up, tried to put a drip up on her but she was so cold and her blood pressure was low, i just couldnt get a vein, we then took her down to our vet who managed to get a drip up and gave her some plasma to try and get her blood pressure up and circulation going. She only weighed 10kg, and a deer of her age should weigh at least  25kg, so we had a fight on our hands from the word go. Unfortunately she died that night.
